Charlotte's Story

I started training with EKK Association aged 10, after my younger brother  took up karate. It looked like fun, so I persuaded my Mum to let me join too. I took to it really quickly, and was soon asked to join the competition squad as an Orange belt. Karate has helped my confidence and co-ordination, as well as keeping me fit, and introducing me to some great friends. My love of competing has grown steadily, and through the years I have had good times and some not so good times, but every competition has taught me something. Under the guidance of EKK Association coaching I have been fortunate to win numerous national medals, and in July 2016 I became the Junior Shito-ryu Kata World Champion.

Michael's Story

I started doing karate with EKK at the age of 4, and in all honesty, I never saw it as anything serious, it was just another after school activity I was experimenting with. I started because some of my school friends were doing it as well, and it seemed like good fun.

By about 7 or 8 years old I was put in the competition squad, and I have been competing since, going to various national and international events where I have won medals on many of those occasions.

Although I have had my ups and downs, I have found that competing has really helped to improve my karate on the whole, as well as my fitness and confidence. Being part of EKK has really given me the chance to meet new people and form long lasting friendships.

Pershia's Story

My name is Pershia and I have been a member of EKK since 2007.  Being part of EKK it brought to my life many challenges, breakthroughs and setbacks. I have joined the National EKK Squad where I have won many awards. The one I am especially proud of is the World Championships in Dublin 2016 where we came second in Team Kata. In my opinion EKK is an amazing club and I am really enjoying to being a part of it.
